An Irvington man has been charged with weapons offenses connected to the investigation into a fatal shooting at a Chick-fil-A in Union Township, prosecutors said.

Rahqueel Floyd, 23, is charged with possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a handgun.

Jaheed Fields, 20, of Newark, was previously arrested May 1 on murder, attempted murder and weapons charges in connection with the shooting.

Prosecutors said six people were struck by gunfire and suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. Malek Shepherd, 23, of New York City, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office said investigators determined that another patron discharged a handgun inside the Route 22 restaurant during the April 11 shooting.

Floyd was taken into custody May 18 and is being held at the Essex County Jail pending his next court appearance.
