The investigation into the New Jersey Transit train crash in Hoboken is being held up due to heavy damage on the vehicle.

The National Transportation Safety Board says electronics controlling the train's brakes and propulsion system were destroyed in the crash, meaning more tests are needed for investigators to pinpoint a cause for the incident.

The train's engineer has told federal investigators that he has no memory of what happened right before the crash that killed one woman on Sept. 29.

State lawmakers have sought subpoena power to investigate New Jersey Transit after an Associated Press report claims that it has been involved in more accidents and safety violations than any other U.S. commuter railroad over the past five years.

New Jersey Transit hasn't commented on the report.
