Illusionist and Metuchen-native David Copperfield has been accused of sexual assault.

Copperfield released a statement on Twitter Wednesday in support of the #MeToo movement, but shortly after, a woman came forward with a decades-old assault claim, according to multiple reports.

The aspiring model said Copperfield drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1988 when she was 17 years old.

The woman said she filed her claims with the FBI in 2007, and she is not seeking any financial settlement.
