Many residents were hoping to skate at an ice rink in the Bronx, but that isn't going to happen this winter.
Earlier this month, the parks department and Community Board 8 approved a temporary ice rink in Van Cortlandt Park. The move would've fulfilled Mayor Bloomberg's promise to have an ice rink in the Bronx by the end of the year, but the parks department says it can't supply enough power to operate the ice rink this winter.
City officials say they will work with the community and Con Ed to have a new ice rink ready for next fall.
