Hundreds of New Jersey couples are worried their wedding memories may be lost forever, along with the thousands of dollars they paid for photos and videos.
Justin and Heather Fiory have been married long enough to have a 6-month-old daughter. However, they are still waiting for the wedding photos and a video they paid $6,000 for back in 2005. So far, they have received just one enlargement.
The company they used, Celebration Studios, says it is closing because of financial problems. The company says anyone who is owed photos or videos will get them. The Fiorys and other couples claim Celebration Studios has been giving them the runaround concerning their photos. Hundreds of unhappy customers are sharing the same story online. Some say they have been waiting as long as four years to get their photos and videos.
The company?s landlord says Celebration Studios owes him more than $20,000 in rent.
One bride received a statement from the company?s lawyer stating, ?Due to financial difficulties, Celebration Studios is closed and considering bankruptcy.? The attorney says the photos and videos still exist and will not be destroyed.
In a phone conversation taped last week by one of the brides, the company?s owner insisted it they were working through a backlog of orders and claimed a few disgruntled people were spreading rumors.
Several customers say they are working with attorneys on a class-action lawsuit. Although if the company does declare bankruptcy, it's unclear what good that would do.
