Anyone planning to drive on the New Jersey Turnpike better take extra precaution starting Tuesday. Starting today, State police will begin the first of three targeted enforcement periods along toll roads looking for speeders and distracted drivers.
The 2015 I-95 Challenge is a six day period also targeting aggressive drivers and those who don't wear their seat beats.
It's also part of the International Association of Chiefs of Police's Drive to Save Lives campaign. The hope is to reduce the estimated 33,000 deaths that occur on U.S. highways each year.
The two other enforcement periods occur Aug 4-9 and Dec. 29-31.
