Showers and storms came through last night, bringing gusty winds and lightning. A cold front was the reason for this active weather, and it will slowly be moving through the region.

Ahead of it's passage, there is a scattered, but spotty, shower chance. Once the front passes, the shower potential goes down overnight and into Friday. While the skies clear out, the air will still feel rather muggy.

Friday will have a mostly sunny skies and temperatures on the warm side. The dry trend will continue into Saturday with temperatures at seasonal levels. Overall, it shall be a great day to be out and about with classic summer weather hanging around. Get the pool or beach or barbecue plans going but also keep that sunscreen around.

Sunday has an increase in clouds through the day, but it will be rain-free until the evening hours. An approaching system will bring showers through the overnight hours and they shall wrap up before the morning commute is underway on Monday.

Next week is looking good overall. Tropical Storm Erin is in the open waters of the Central Atlantic Ocean, but not for long. By midweek, it could be moving between the East Coast and Bermuda, kicking up chopping wave activity for Long Island. Breezy to gusty winds are likely as well for Thursday.
