Efforts to get vaccinations into underserved communities in Hudson County hit the road Thursday.
Hudson County officials debuted their mobile clinic -- a small passenger bus repurposed and outfitted for vaccine distribution.
The bus was parked at Braddock Park in North Bergen. A handful of people were recruited to get their second shot.
'We are trying at a community or neighborhood level, like this site, to try to get folks as they walk by … to convince them to trust the science," said Deputy Hudson County Administrator David Drumeler.
The mobile clinic is part of the county's ongoing and coordinated effort with local municipalities to get the vaccine to even more residents. Sixty percent of eligible residents in the densely populated and diverse county already received at least one shot.
"We will try to use this van to just go around to places where we see people and pull up alongside and see if people want vaccines and vaccinate from there," Drumeler said.
