Some high school students from Newark got the opportunity to experiment with being real-life scientists.
Students learned how to perform tests on pharmaceutical drugs. The tests are the same tests that are required by the FDA.
The drug that was used is fake, dubbed "durocore." The chemicals that the students got to work with are authentic, taken from over-the-counter medications.
The lab where the students performed the test is in East Hanover and belongs to Students 2 Science. It's a non-profit funded partly by local pharmaceutical companies to encourage young people to go into the science field.
