A Howell woman was struck and killed by lightning Friday night at the rehearsal dinner for her best friend?s wedding.
The mother of three, Cindy Osler, was going to be the matron of honor at Lisa LeCompte?s wedding. She had stepped outside the restaurant where the dinner was taking place to check on LeCompte?s daughter when she was struck by lightning.
The best man in the wedding party was walking with Osler when the incident ocurred. The lightning knocked him to the ground, but he was not hurt.
LeCompte said the last thing on her mind right now is her wedding, which has been indefinitely postponed. She is urging everyone to stay inside during electrical storms.
Surviving Osler are her husband, Frank, their three children and their two grandchildren. Cindy and Frank were high school sweethearts and had been married for 25 years. Frank says his wife was happiest when doing things for others.
?She was just everything ? my backbone,? Frank said.
Services for Cindy Osler will be held Wednesday evening.
