New Jersey’s farmers had a chance to voice their concerns to one of New Jersey’s congressmen.
The farmers met with Rep. Josh Gottheimer on Thursday to talk about their struggles with labor and growing issues in the wake of a dry summer season.
The meeting aimed to discuss possible solutions to help farmers get back to efficiently growing their crops.
"Farmers are eternal optimists, ‘Next year is going to be better.’ Well, this year is not better than last and last year wasn't great. The drought situation, labor, our inputs, low prices. I'm sticking around, we're going to stick around. It's just how long we can do it?” asks Ryck Suydam, president of the New Jersey Farm Bureau.
Farmers are asking New Jersey residents to support them by buying local products.
