Bayonne Medical Center administrators are asking for help in light of the facility?s failing financial health.
Bayonne Mayor Joseph Doria and hospital administrators say they need about $10 million to keep the center operating. Administrators will be in bankruptcy court Tuesday to discuss the future of the East 29th Street hospital. They are hoping they can receive a state loan by that time.
Officials had hoped to meet with Gov. Jon Corzine before the bankruptcy meeting, but they will have to plead their case with the state?s health director due to the governor?s surgery.
Meanwhile, residents packed a special meeting Monday to hear about the future of the hospital. Many hope the facility will not close.
