Police in Neptune say a homicide was the reason for the shutdown of Route 33 in both directions early this morning.

The incident happened around 12:54 a.m. near Route 33 and Tilton Place.

Jahmere Presley, 20, of Neptune, was killed.

Police tape cordoned off the area and the Monmouth County Forensics Unit was on the scene.

So far, no additional information is being made available.

The roadway has reopened.
