A new Netflix facility at the former Fort Monmouth is moving ahead.
The base closed in 2011 after almost a century of military activity. The land deal encompasses more than 200 acres located on the border of Eatontown and Oceanport.
Gov. Phil Murphy said that the facility will not only grow the Garden State’s film and television industry but will also create thousands of jobs.
"When all is said and done, this facility, which will feature 12 top-of-the-line sound stages, will be the single largest production facility in our state's entire history. So now, more than ever, New Jersey is ready for its close-up,” the governor said.
The new facility will be the streaming service’s second-largest production hub in the United States, second only to its location in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
