A Hillsborough man is facing charges for allegedly killing his parents last year.
The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office says that Patrick Lin, 37, is accused of killing his parents by striking them in the head with a blunt object. The parents were identified as David Lin and Jean Lin. Both were 69 years old.
Hillsborough police were called to the Cornell Trail home around 4 p.m. on Sep. 25 to conduct a welfare check.
Officials say that officers were finally able to get into the home just before 6:30 p.m. They say this is when officers encountered Patrick Lin. Officials say he was holding a weapon. This is when two Hillsborough officers shot Patrick Lin.
Patrick Lin was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The officers found the parents in two separate upstairs bedrooms. It was determined that they died from blunt force injuries to the head.
Patrick Lin is still in the hospital and is listed in stable condition. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree attempted murder and several other charges.
Officials say once Patrick Lin is released from the hospital, he will be taken to the Somerset County Jail.
Officials say this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
