Police: HS student strikes police officer with car, drives off
An 18-year-old high school student struck and injured a police officer with her car and then drove away, according to officials.
Edison police say that the JP High School student struck Officer Andrew Roy, pinning him between two cars. Police say that the student, who was not identified, was distraught, and drove away following the crash.
Officer Roy is a school resource officer assigned to the high school. He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital to be treated for leg and hip injuries. He is expected to recover.
The state PBA tweeted, "Please keep the Edison officer who was struck by a car this morning in your prayers. The officer showed tremendous valor in his action and we pray for his recovery."
The student as charged with aggravated assault, obstruction and eluding arrest.
