About 250 students who attend Herbertsville Elementary School in Brick Township will have a new school next year.

The news came during Thursday night's school boarding meeting as the town faces $22 million in cuts from state aid over the next five years.

The district is planning on using a grant to fund preschool classes, while current students will be sent to other schools.

Parents in the district are worried that more cuts are coming for children.

"It's going to mean losing busing, they're going to close another school--they put it on the table that possibly Osbornville is next," said Brenn Swanson, a parent in the district. "Forty kids in a class could be very much possible. No more clubs, no more sports, pay to play, anything like that and they no other options and they are very real possibilities."

On Tuesday, about 2,000 students and supporters of Toms River School District protested the funding cuts outside the State House. The Brick Township School Board said it is planning its own demonstration.
