The heat is on in the Hudson Valley and officials say this kind of weather needs to be taken seriously.
"We tried to find a nice spot to cool down for a little bit," said Daisy Flores who, was visiting Tarrytown.
Friday, extremely warm temperatures made their way back to the area.
Families and pet owners who were out in the morning told us, they were trying to get things done before it got too warm.
"It's good to get out earlier in the day or later at night. That way, their paws won't get hurt," Flores told News 12.
Officials with the Putnam County SPCA are on high alert.
"The two things we're trying to do is position ourselves in the field where it's likely to happen and number two, catch it, if it's going on," said Putnam County SPCA Chief Ken Ross.
They frequently patrol parking lots to keep an eye out for animals left in the car.
"The interior temperature can go up 40 degrees higher than the exterior temperature and that's even with the windows down," Ross told News 12.
Doctors in the Hudson Valley are also urging you to be careful, stay hydrated and indoors, if possible.
