Many will be celebrating at least part of the Fourth of July weekend at a barbecue and that means plenty of food.
Most will chow down on ribs, potato salad and hot dogs, but there are some healthier options to put on the grill.
Tanya Hunt, a registered dietician with Saint Barnabas Hospital, says people often overindulge on holidays. Hunt says instead of pork and beef, substitute lean chicken cutlets instead. She says plenty of green vegetables and fruit make delicious options for grilling, too.
Also, skip the sodas and other sugary drinks, and instead, drink fresh-brewed lemonade and unsweetened ice tea. They are more beneficial to your waist line.
