The open enrollment period for the New Jersey Health Insurance Program is set to end on Jan. 31. If you want to make sure you and your family are covered for the entirety of 2024, you have until Dec. 31.
"That's why we want people to enroll in the next couple of days so that they have coverage all year long," said Justin Zimmerman, acting commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance.
Get Covered NJ is the state's official health insurance marketplace. If you aren't receiving health care through your job, Medicare or Medicaid, these plans are for you.
“The health plans that are sold offer comprehensive coverage," Zimmerman said. "So that’s prescription-free preventative care, and the best part is no one can be denied coverage if they have any pre-existing conditions.”
To get started, you can visit the Get Covered NJ website. From there you can compare different health plans based on monthly premiums, access to doctors and the amount you'll be paying per year.
If you need help finding the right plan for you and your family, you can call their helpline, at 1-833-677-1010 or go to their assistance pop-up locations.
Those pop-ups will be located at:
