Many New Jersey businesses are enjoying the extra publicity and large crowds ahead of the Haskell Invitational, and thousands are turning out to Monmouth Park to watch the horses warm up.
They mainly came to see Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, who is expected to run in Sunday's race, but the hype around the horse has benefited area businesses.
The Raceway Diner in West Long Branch says that business has tripled since Wednesday.
With a record 60,000 fans heading to Monmouth Park on Sunday, roads are expected to be extremely busy.
NJ Transit is adding five additional trains after the race to accommodate crowds, and all local North Jersey coastline trains will stop at the Monmouth Park station.
Four extra trains will head to Newark and one to Bay Head after the race.
Those attending the race are urged to begin traveling early.
The trains will be operating on a "load-and-go" basis, meaning that they will not follow a set time schedule.
Post time for the Haskell Invitational is at 5:52 p.m., and gates to the racetrack open at 9 a.m. Sunday.
