A series of violent events on Sunday led to a barricaded suspect situation in Guttenberg and his eventual arrest by Hudson County Regional SWAT team.
According to the Guttenberg police, a car crashed at the Bergenline Avenue and 70th Street intersection, where a pedestrian was struck.
News 12 New Jersey was on the scene where the car was stuck between a pole and the side of a building with its front end totaled.
Police say the suspect, later identified as Malik Moore, 45, of Orange, fled the car and “assaulted another pedestrian nearby.”
They say Moore then entered a residence on 70th Street armed with a knife and assaulted one of its residents. All the residents were able to escape as authorities surrounded the home and Moore barricaded himself inside.
The SWAT team successfully took Moore into custody after hours of negotiations. He was transported to a hospital for a medical evaluation.
The extent of the injuries allegedly caused by Moore was not detailed in the police statement.
