Brookdale Community College in Lincroft was temporarily placed on lockdown after a student reported seeing someone with a gun drive on to campus.
A spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office says that the incident started off campus when a student driving noticed someone in a car next to him who appeared to have a gun on the steering wheel.
The student drove onto campus and noticed that the other car also entered the campus. The student reported to security that he saw someone with a gun and the campus was locked down just before 6:45 p.m.
According to the prosecutor's office, police located the person who reportedly had the gun and determined that it was a pellet gun and that there was no threat to the school. That person was taken into custody. Officials did not say what charges that man may face.
The lockdown at the school was lifted just before 7 p.m.
