A Passaic police officer allegedly caught on tape beating a civilian in May was indicted by a grand jury Monday.
Authorities say Police Officer Joseph Rios III was caught on a restaurant surveillance camera getting out of his police cruiser and beating Ronnie Holloway, 50, who takes medication for schizophrenia.
The grand jury charged Rios with third-degree aggravated assault and second-degree official misconduct. Rios, a six-year veteran of the Passaic Police Department and a military veteran, will be arraigned next month.
