Gov. Jon Corzine is set to release the 2009 budget Tuesday while New Jersey residents prepare to face some grim realities.
In what some are calling Corzine?s hardest and most important address to date, many are wondering how he plans to make up as much as $7 billion in red ink. It is expected that the governor will ask all residents to make sacrifices.
?The pain, if you want to call it that, is being distributed as evenly as possible,? said Senate Leader Dick Codey (D).
The official budget address will be delivered Tuesday at noon, but some have speculated about new taxes on alcohol, wine and cigarettes as well as furloughs or salary freezes for state workers.
?This is a budget that has painful and tough decisions on every single page,? said Assembly Speaker Joe Roberts (D).
