Gov. Phil Murphy says the state could need $20 billion to $30 billion in assistance to deal with the COVID-19 fallout.
“Keep firefighters, teachers, police, EMS on the payroll serving the communities in their hour of need – that is something we feel strongly about,” said the governor. “We don't see this as a bailout. We see this as a partnership, doing the right thing in what is the worst health care crisis of our nation.”

Gov. Murphy told President Donald Trump about the fiscal needs in the state during an Oval Office meeting Thursday. He thanked the president for “extraordinary spirit of partnership.”
During his daily COVID-19 briefing, the governor announced that the Trump administration would be delivering 550,000 test kits and 750,000 testing swabs.
The latest numbers show another 2,600 COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the statewide total to 118,652. He announced the death of an additional 460 New Jersey residents – the single largest jump since March. The death toll has reached.
