Gov. Phil Murphy and state officials discuss the latest updates on the coronavirus crisis in New Jersey.
The statewide total number of coronavirus cases in New Jersey now stands at 71,030 cases, after Gov. Phil Murphy just announced 2,625 new cases. The governor also announced 351 additional deaths, bringing the statewide death toll to 3,156.
- Gov. Murphy: 8,270 New Jerseyans are in the hospital due to the virus, 709 have since been discharged.
- The governor again asks New Jerseyans to continue to social distance to slow the spread of the virus and "flatten the curve."
- Only the Bergen Community College testing site will be open on Thursday & Friday. The PNC Arts Center site will reopen on April 18 for symptomatic first responders and health care workers only.
- Gov. Murphy says that he will continue to push for more testing supplies.
- A teacher and student from Teaneck have begun making face shields for medical personnel.
- The state is working with Rutgers University to roll out a new saliva testing system.
