Gov. Chris Christie has ordered flags to fly half-staff Tuesday at New Jersey's state office buildings to mourn the victims of the attacks in Paris that left 129 dead.
Christie said Monday that the attacks represent an assault on civilized people throughout the world.
Commuters around New Jersey found increased security in the wake of the attacks on Monday.
The state's Homeland Security and Preparedness Office on Monday says there are no specific, credible threats in the state. However, law enforcement remains on heightened alert out of an abundance of caution.
Port Authority police officers have increased patrols at the Hudson River crossings, metropolitan airports and ports. Officers also will be checking bags, buses, trucks and trains.
