Quick thinking by a pair of good Samaritans and the Bergen County Sheriff's Office saved the life of a 5-year-old girl who stopped breathing on Route 4.

The girl's family, visiting from Kentucky, pulled over on Saturday after realizing their daughter was unresponsive. Her father began CPR while her mother flagged down an officer, who assisted with chest compressions.

A doctor and his wife, traveling in the area, stopped to help until paramedics arrived.

The child was hospitalized and is now in stable condition.
