The Goo Goo Dolls – one of the most popular alternative rock bands of the past 25 years – has just released a Christmas album. And founding member John Rzeznik is also giving a voice to fighting hunger in the Garden State.

Rzeznik says that he started writing the album in the early days of the pandemic.

"We were just talking about what this Christmas was going to be like for people, being away from their families, not being able to get together. I can’t go up to Buffalo and get together with my family this year because two of my sisters have COVID,” Rzeznik says. “And I just essentially wanted to capture that kind of emotion."

The album “It’s Christmas All Over” contains Goo Goo Dolls versions of classic Christmas songs, along with two original songs.

Rzeznik moved with his family to Westfield several years ago and has lately been lending his voice to efforts to fight hunger in New Jersey. He is encouraging others to help make a difference.

“At the very most that you can do is limitless. You can donate time, you can donate money,” he says.

The Goo Goo Dolls will also perform an augmented reality concert of the holiday album which is streaming on Saturday.
