Hundreds of golfers participated in a fundraiser Tuesday in Bedminster to honor a New Jersey Penn State student who died while pledging a fraternity.
The golf outing aims to raise money for the Timothy Piazza Foundation. The foundation focuses on helping children in need of prosthetic devices.
“We want to make sure we take care of what Tim’s…career passion was,” say father Jim Piazza. “He was really interested in prosthetics devices and designing them. So we’re going to give a lot of funds, hopefully, to people that are in need of prosthetics.”
The money will also fund college scholarships for students at Piazza's alma mater, Hunterdon Central Regional High School.
Piazza died in February after he fell down a flight of basement stairs at the fraternity house. Officials say that it was the result of an alleged hazing party.
Members of the fraternity are facing charges.
