Gas station owners came forward Thursday to say they have been wrongfully blacklisted by the state attorney general.
A week ago state Attorney General Anne Milgram released the names of 350 gas station owners she says were ripping off the public at the pump.
Aiton Adoni says his station was inspected May 29 by Weights and Measures inspectors. Adoni says t heir report demonstrates that his station was given a passing grade.
Adoni says he was dumbfounded when a customer told him he was listed as a dishonest gas station owner.
At a news conference Thursday, 10 gas station owners from around the Garden State expressed their frustration after Milgram accused them of scamming motorists.
The state claims a task force of inspectors found that about 350 gas stations were cheating drivers with inaccurate octane ratings, changing prices and short changing drivers at the pumps.
