The calendar may say January, but thanks to the unseasonably warm temperatures it looks a lot like spring outside.
Plants and shrubs that typically bloom in early spring are making appearances now. Rutgers Cooperative Extension officials say the growth and color emerging now will only mean disappointment later. According to agricultural experts, if a bud begins to flower and the temperatures freeze, the buds will fall off. Once that happens, they won?t grow back later.
Agricultural experts say lawns will also be an issue with warmer weather in the winter. They say weeds can begin spreading now, making them harder to control in the spring.
