Newark held its second day of cost-cutting furloughs Friday.
While city offices were closed and trash collection stopped for the day, police and firefighters remained on the job. Newark's next furlough days fall on Nov. 2 and Dec. 28.
The controversial furloughs save Newark an estimated $2 million. The city is currently facing a $75 million budget deficit.
