A mother and daughter slain in their own home in Roselle were laid to rest Saturday.
Loved ones gathered at the Chestnut Street Community Church for the funeral of Keisha and Kelsey Morrison. Husband and father Gary Morrison was surrounded by support from family during the service. There was a dove sendoff on church grounds.
Family members say the mother and daughter were found bludgeoned to death last week by an ax inside the daughter’s bedroom. They had been wrapped in bed sheets and stuffed under a bed.
At this time, family members are accusing Everoy Morrison, the child’s uncle, of committing the crime. They say he was living in the basement of the home for more than two years, but recently had been told to move out as the family started to become uncomfortable with his presence.
News 12 was told Everoy Morrison is in custody in Baltimore County, Maryland where he was picked up by police during a traffic stop in a stolen BMW linked to this investigation. Authorities say he is in custody and awaiting extradition back to New Jersey.
The investigation is ongoing at this time under the Union County Prosecutor's Office.
It’s unknown if homicide charges have been brought up against Everoy Morrison.
