A would-be burglar who walked into a Plainfield couple's home through the front door has left the community on edge.
Bill Garrett says his wife encountered an intruder who walked right through the unlocked front door. The Garretts say the man ran off without taking anything after threats to call police were made.
Neighbors of the Garretts have posted an alert on a community watch Web page to keep their guard up. "We need to keep an eye on each other," says neighbor Edgar Martinez.
Police have refused to comment on the case, but law enforcement officials are reminding homeowners to keep their doors locked and not to leave valuables where they can be seen through open doors and windows.
