The Morrisania Sexual Health Clinic in the Bronx has become the first clinic participating in a program to offer abortion pills for free.
In the aftermath of the Supreme Court ruling on Roe v. Wade, both the city and state have made efforts to support reproductive health. One of the goals of the rollout is to fight health inequalities.
Louise Washington, a longtime Bronx resident, told News 12 restrictions to abortion access remind her of the healthcare days of the 1960s.
City officials are also relaunching a sexual education task force.
The city plans to have the medication available at clinics in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens by the end of year. The pills are already available at 11 public hospitals. For more information,
