The victim of a burglary is hoping surveillance cameras installed inside his bedroom will help police catch a crook in Somerset County.
Franklin Township police responded to reports of a burglary at a home on Hillcrest Avenue in the Somerset section of town Monday afternoon. The man who lived in the house said he returned home to find his basement door damaged and his bedroom ransacked. A pair of sunglasses and jewelry worth around $1,700 were stolen.
A security camera inside the bedroom captured video of a thin black man, approximately 20 to 30 years old rummaging around the room. He appears to be about 6 feet tall and has tattoos on his arms and neck.
The footage also shows the suspect place a silver handgun on the bed while he went through the house. He also appears to use his shirt to move objects around the room to avoid leaving fingerprints.
Anyone who may recognize the man is urged to contact the Franklin Township Police Department at 732-873-5533 extension 3160.
