A former cargo pilot who frequently traveled abroad was sentenced to 12 years in prison for flying to the Philippines and paying to have sex with minors, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger announced.
An investigation revealed that 68-year-old Frank Maile, of Hamilton, filmed the acts and shared the child pornography with his then-roommate/tenant Dennis Nerolich, according to Sellinger.
Maile, formerly of New Egypt, had been doing this from 2013 to 2018. He pleaded guilty in September 2023 in Newark federal court to Count Four of a five-count indictment, charging him with illicit sexual conduct abroad, that is, a sexual act with a person under 18 years of age, a commercial sex act, and production of child pornography, according to Sellinger.
In addition to the prison term, Maile was sentenced to lifetime supervised release, registration as a sex offender, a $5,000 assessment under the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, and a $50,000 fine.
