Ex-Paterson resident sentenced for bank fraud conspiracy, possession of stolen mail across North Jersey

A former Paterson resident has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for bank fraud conspiracy, according to U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger.
Brando Mancebo, 24, pleaded guilty by videoconference in Newark Federal Court, Sellinger announced.
Documents filed in the case alleged Mancebo and others conspired to break into post office collection boxes in Bergen, Hudson and Morris counties to steal mail.
Documents also accused them of fraudulently depositing the stolen checks into accounts associated with conspiracy members and then withdrawing the money.
Mancebo must pay back over $106,000. He was also sentenced tto five years of supervised release.
