A former Neptune High School football player died after attending his first college football practice.
Braeden Bradforth was found unresponsive inside his dorm room at Garden City Community College in Kansas last week. He was pronounced dead later that night.
Bradforth was an incoming freshman slated to play defensive tackle.
Neptune Township School Superintendent Tami Crader released a statement Monday following the death.
“On behalf of the entire staff and the Neptune Township School District Board of Education, I extend my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of 2018 graduate Braeden Bradforth,” Crader said. "Counselors can be made available to any students who need assistance in dealing with the passing of a classmate."
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Bradforth's family to help return the player's body to New Jersey.
A cause of death is pending an autopsy.
