First responders rescue people from house fire in Perth Amboy; 2 officers injured

The fire was reported around 5 p.m. on Water Street. Part of the house collapsed due to the damage.

First responders helped people escape from a multistory home in Perth Amboy that was on fire.
The fire was reported around 5 p.m. on Water Street. Police Chief Larry Cattano says that when police officers arrived, they found people trying to escape out of the back of the home through the windows.
Cattano says officers helped people get out from the third and fourth floors of the home.
Two police officers were taken to the hospital for unspecified injuries.
Video posted on social media shows that the fire badly damaged the home, with at least one side of the home collapsing.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
