It has been almost a year since a Hudson County firefighter was killed in the line of duty, but his family members and friends are making sure his name lives on.
Vincent Neglia, a veteran North Hudson Regional firefighter, died last September rushing into a burning building in Union City trying to save someone he thought was trapped inside.
On Thursday, family members and friends gathered for the christening of a fireboat named after Neglia. The boat, purchased from the state police, will respond to waterfront fires in five northern Hudson County towns and assist in water rescues.
The boat will be docked and dispatched out of Weehawken all year. Firefighters have been receiving training to operate the boat.
