The frightening scene unfolded at 9949 Shore Rd. and was caught on video by neighbors at around 1 a.m.
The fire can be seen intensifying and breaking through a second window, as smoke billows out of multiple other apartment windows.
Fire officials say there were no reported injuries, and marshals are now working to determine the cause of the fire.
The building's super tells News 12 a dead body was also found inside the building hours before.
Police sources say both incidents are unrelated and believe the person found inside the building died of natural causes.
