A fire damaged a bakery in Borough Park early Tuesday morning, prompting a large FDNY response and leaving the business without power.
Firefighters were called to Korn’s Bakery on 15th Avenue, between 43rd and 44th streets, just after 6:20 a.m. The fire started on the first floor of the building, according to the FDNY.
As crews arrived and saw the size of the fire, it was upgraded to a second alarm around 6:40 a.m. In total, 46 FDNY units and 141 fire and EMS personnel responded.
The fire was brought under control in the morning, and no injuries were reported.
By the afternoon, firefighters had cleared out, but FDNY remained on scene as investigators worked to figure out what caused the fire. Inside the bakery, the space was heavily soaked from firefighting efforts. Workers were later seen pumping water out of the building.
It is not yet clear when the bakery will be able to reopen.
