A four-alarm fire at an apartment building in Hoboken Wednesday has displaced 60 families, officials say.
Firefighters say flames engulfed the complex, located at 1202 Hudson St., and have confirmed that 80-year-old Paula Otero was killed in her third-floor apartment.
Some building residents speculate that the fire was intentionally set by a man who may have been fighting with a person who lives in the building at around the time the fire was reported. Residents believe the man was injured, taken to the hospital and released before his alleged connection to the fire was realized.
News 12 New Jersey contacted the prosecutor?s office, but it was unable to confirm that the fire was intentionally set, or that arson was being investigated as a possible cause.
Those displaced by the blaze were brought to the nearby Wallace School, where they are receiving aid from the American Red Cross.
