A fire in the 300 block of 13th Avenue in Belmar destroyed two homes and left two firefighters and a resident with minor injuries.
Some surrounding homes also suffered damages.
The two destroyed homes had burnt exteriors, blown out windows and a caved in roof.
Officials say the fire started just before 6 a.m. on the porch of 306 13th Ave.
"We had heavy fire at that house. It extended to 308 and then 308 and a half,” said Chief Sean Pringle with the Belmar Fire Department. “We had a report of someone trapped but [it] turned out to be false. We had guys go in and had to get out of the house because of the heavy fire conditions.”
The chief says the two homes will need to be demolished. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
