A popular burger joint in Bound Brook is badly damaged after a fire.
Firefighters responded to 25 Burgers at 522 W. Union Ave. just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Fire departments from several surrounding towns responded to help fight the blaze.
Several customers and employees were inside at the time of the fire. They were able to get out safely and call 911.
Several roads and highways in the area were closed or detoured while crews fought the fire.
The owner believes the fire started in the attic and not in the kitchen. Fire officials are investigating.
This is the second fire at the restaurant within two weeks. On May 29, a fire was reported inside the walls. 25 Burgers had recently reopened following that fire.
The owner says it is unknown if the restaurant will be able to be reopened this time around.
