Fire companies from Lyndhurst and the surrounding area on Thursday battled a fire at a paper recycling plant.
The flames broke out at around 11:30 a.m. at NY NJ Recycling.
A large section of the facility had collapsed during the blaze. By the time the fire was out, the building was destroyed.
Lyndhurst Fire Chief Paul Haggerty said that three firefighters suffered injuries, and one of them was sent to the hospital.
"It was a very intense fire that was in the compacted material," Chief Paul Haggerty said. "We had to get the building demolished to get to the fire."
Haggerty also said that the fire from that building actually spread to a plastics facility next door, resulting in another small fire that was quickly put out.
