More than 130 people were forced to evacuate when a fire broke out Sunday morning at a Jackson retirement home.
According to the Jackson Police Department, crews responded around 7:15 a.m to a fire at the Bella Terra assisted living facility located on Kathleen Drive.
Officials say flames broke out on the third floor and the building's sprinkler system helped to knock out the fire.
A total of 44 rooms were evacuated. No injuries were reported.
Some of the evacuees were taken to Jackson Liberty High School, where a staging area was set up until permanent housing arrangements have been made for the affected residents.
Loved ones of the relocated residents were contacted by Bella Terra management to respond to that location.
The cause of the fire and how much damage the facility sustained is unclear.
